Mom Cascade Classic Cycling July 17, 2014

Dear Taye,
It's Cascade Classic Cycling week, and I'm thinking about you every time, I pass one of those cyclist.
Remember how we filled hundreds of water bottles last year?  I recruited some of the MBSEF Nordic team members after you guys had done your own workout, to help out, and everyone was really a good sport about it.
I remember the year they had the junior catagory, in the downtown crit' and you won it!  Well at first, they thought you were a guy, so they gave the race to another girl, and you were so mad, but then good ol' Walter Lafky pointed out the mistake, and he told them that just because you had a short haircut, you were indeed all girl!  You got your reward, and a CCC tee shirt.  We were proud of you for sticking with the cycling, even when it was tough.  You did Century rides, you did hard workouts, and you stretched yourself to do cross too.
I keep thinking/hoping/praying you're just at some away cycling camp, and will be coming home soon.  We miss and love you so much.

The Smith's Snow Sculptures outside of JRC July 15, 2014

Our family was indeed touched by your beautiful daughter, Taye, and we are so deeply saddened she is gone so early in life.  The Smith family will always remember Taye's artistic talent through the amazing snow statues she would build during the ski season that we all got to enjoy.  The friendship she and Erin acquired while alpine skiing together will always have a special place in Erin's heart.  Even though fierce competitors there was alaways laughter and silliness between them before and after races.  Taye was an amazing young lady and will will all miss her.  With Love,  Kelly, Gordon, Erin and Jack
Kendra Boos Unique Girl July 15, 2014

I fondly remember TAye's unique sense of style.  I loved running into her in the restroom on some mornings and would always find something in her outfit that would make me smile.  I will miss seeing her in the halls at Cascades Academy.  My heart aches.
Your MOM :) "The Clam" July 15, 2014

Dear Taye, It's been so painfully hard to write the last few days...dad and I went to the Oregon Coast, so we wouldn't have to be here on the one month date.
Like the mountains, the sea is sustaining.  I remember you didn't care for the Oregon coast because it was/ is always soooo cold, even in the summer, we'd bundle in our parkas.
We ate some Mo's clam chowder for you, which was one of the highlights for you on the Coast :).
I remember last time we were on the ORegon coast we were searching for Sand Dollars, they seemed like they were everywhere.
You were always searching for some thing different on every coast, even the last time we were in Maine.  I miss being on the beach with you.
Remember in California, when you found the white clam, and you brought it home in the sand pail with water, and boiled it, and said you were going to eat it?  Then you did boil it on grandma's stove, the shell opened, and you ate the Clam!!!  It totally grossed out Kiki that you would do that, but I think it was a legit' sized clam.  You were always so daring, even when you were so young.
I miss that moxie.   I miss you so much honey.  Be at peace.  Love, love, love you,  MOM
Cara One Month July 14, 2014

It’s been a month

Since you’ve gone away

Only a little span of days

That feels so long and endless

With longings for more memories

Within the mourning

Your beauty and your life

Your drawings and your eyes

Remind our hearts

You are safe and in God’s arms
