I remember going to the local Horse Jumping competition with you and your mom, and as we watched, you were drawing a picture of a beautiful horse. It was the most amazing, beautiful drawing and I knew at that moment what an amazing and gifted artist you truly were. It was remarkable, and you were only ten or eleven.

I was Taye's drama teacher at CACO for 2+ years or so...
How I remember Taye's fabulous flair for the dramatics, is trying anything!
She was so quiet, yet when she took on characters, she became that character; some wild and wooly.

to see lightning and not think
life is fleeting

When I think of you, Taye, I remember an extraordinary and special young woman. You brought poetry in your unique approach to life. Everyday I think of you like lightning flashing across the sky and am reminded of your free spirit. I remember you coming over to our house for Zoe's birthday and you were so loving to all the kids, they just gravitated to you and your sweet spirit. You sported dark eyeliner, a punk hairdo and edgy clothes but that couldn't mask your innocence and curiosity.
You had this sly loving smile and a twinkle in your eye like you knew some knowledge of the world but just wouldn't divulge it to the four year olds. They could sense your love, gentle spirit and childlike wonder and they surrounded you. You were all the beauty of the lightning but was so young you didn't know it. You were too young to observe your own beauty but we all noticed your sensitive and loving nature.
We will miss you dearly, Taye, and will always remember you. We know you have found peace and look forward to seeing you again.

Taye, we are in Hawaii, and there are memories of you here too. Seeing your surfboard with your name on it, and knowing you won't be using it again, is heart wrenching. I picture you peering out from under your trucker hat, in a tiny bikini, riding waves and I hope you are skiing, biking, hiking and surfing in heaven.
